In the context of the study, quality supervision requires knowledge, interpersonal skills and technical skills. Previous studies have shown that knowledge, interpersonal skills, and technical skills have significant relationships with teachers’ efficacy. Therefore, a correlation study was carried out to explore the relationship between the variables. The finding from 856 secondary school teachers’ indicated that there was a significant relationship between quality supervision and teachers’ efficacy. In conclusion, quality supervision can increase or decrease teachers’ efficacy.

ABSTRACT

This study is designed to identify the quality of teaching and learning of mathematics teachers at secondary schools in Kangar, Perlis. Specifically, this study focuses on students’ level of perception towards teaching and learning quality of the mathematics teachers at school, its relationship with mathematics achievement and the difference in perception between students of different genders. This is a survey research through questionnaires involving 120 form four students as the research samples. The instrument used is a set of questionaires comprising 21 items of question covering the quality of teaching and learning of the teachers. The data collected are analysed by using the computer software, Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). Students’ perceptions on the quality of teachers’ teaching and learning are based on the level of perceptions of 5 point Likert scale.
In general, the result shows that the students’ level of perceptions on the quality of teachers’ teaching and learning is in a good category. However, there is no significant relationship between male and female perception toward the quality of teachers’ teaching and learning and their achievements. Beside that, the result also shows that there is no difference of perception on the quality of teachers’ teaching and learning between them. Finally, the findings of this research would be a guideline for teachers in order to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

Comments:
I would like to suggest the researchers may use the qualitative methods like interviews or document analysis to triangulate the data. This is because the research title is more about perception and make the report more meaningful.
